Client Focus

People of all identities can benefit greatly from having a place to connect with themselves. An inability to recognize and express feelings can contribute to feelings of isolation and stress, and a disconnection from a sense of purpose.

Individual Therapy

Therapy offers the individual an opportunity for emotional learning by developing strategies for overcoming any negative thought patterns and potentially destructive behaviors, while discovering the power of emotional intelligence.

As a result of therapy, the individual often feels less alone, less anxious and depressed, more open to connection, and more productive in their lives. I invite you to trust this investment in yourself and embrace therapy as an opportunity to live a more fulfilling life.

Offering to Couples

Intimate relationships provide a powerful opportunity for personal growth. Couples of all kinds – married or unmarried, same-sex or opposite-sex – come to therapy for many reasons and during different stages in their relationship.

Couples therapy is not just about having “problems” in your relationship. Many successful couples use couples’ therapy as a way of maintaining a healthy relationship. Couples find that therapy creates a safe space in which they can regularly discuss what needs attention and to communicate what is currently working or not working in their relationship. Couples therapy is an opportunity to be present for each other and to use your relationship as a vehicle for healing and cultivating greater intimacy and love.

I encourage couples to come in sooner rather than later. The earlier the better in terms of getting the education and developing the skills necessary to succeed in long-term committed relationships.

Pre-Marital
Counseling

More and more engaged or newly married couples use premarital counseling as a proactive, preventive measure by establishing a strong foundation from which the relationship can successfully grow. Premarital counseling is an educational, skill-based process which strengthens your relationship and helps prepare you for future challenges.

We will explore your hopes, fears, and expectations by addressing such topics as: money and finances, family dynamics, sex and intimacy, religion and spirituality, and any other relevant topics. We will look at your different communication styles, attachment styles, love languages, Enneagram types, as I will teach you practical skills supporting a healthy partnership. This can also be a worthwhile opportunity to reduce the stress inherent in planning a wedding.

My work with couples is informed by my knowledge of John Gottman’s Method, Sue Johnson’s Emotionally Focused Therapy, Stan Tatkin’s Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT), John Welwood’s Intimate Relationship as a Path of Transformation, Marshall Rosenberg’s Nonviolent Communication, Attachment Theory, Gary Chapman’s Five Love Languages, and the Enneagram.
